Thank you for your continued support in 2023

The Ireland Funds’ mission is to harness the power of a
global philanthropic network of friends of Ireland to promote and support
peace, culture, education, and community development across the island of
Ireland and among Irish communities around the world. We are very proud to have
been active in Australia for the past 36 years and during that time have raised
over $17 million, for worthwhile causes in Ireland and here in Australia.
Through this, we have directly supported over 261 organizations, across the
core pillars we support.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors our June 2023 Grant
round totalled over $1.8 mil and assisted vital projects such as No Minds Left
Behind, providing Life Changing Scholarships, Learning Hub Limerick providing a
space where young people can reach their true potential; Inner City Enterprise
assisting unemployed people to set up their own businesses; Trinity St. James
Cancer Research Institute helping to accelerate scientific discovery to patient
treatments – to name a few. Click here for a full report on our 2023 Grant Round
We soft launched our Women In Leadership and Philanthropy
events in 2023 with the aim to empower, inspire, and give. Our goal is that
through our networking initiatives, we will support each other as current and
future business leaders in Australia, leveraging and sharing our collective
networks and experience. And through our charitable efforts and initiatives, we
aim to accelerate the impact of our charity partners and support women in
Ireland and Australia. We are starting 2024 with our very first Women In Leadership Luncheon and will be joined by Geraldine Slattery, President, BHP Australia joined in conversation with Sarah O'Carroll, Editor in Chief, Forbes Australia - we would love you to join us. We finished the year with our
Sydney Garden Party at Fairwater on Sunday 19th November 2023,
and it was a perfect day in every way. The sun was shining as we came together
to celebrate and enjoy each other’s company, reflect on the past 36 years and
look forward to the years ahead at this very special place. See a full event recap and photos here.
We are extremely proud of the outstanding work that the
Young Leaders continue to do, this year the Global 5K returned to Centennial Park
in Sydney and Park Runs in Melbourne and Brisbane, with 250+ runners over our
three events we raised over $20,000 profit for our Young Leader Support
Projects - The Irish Support Agency, IASRB, Irish Australian Support
Association of Queensland, and 174 Trust Northern Ireland. Our Young Leaders
are without doubt some of the most active Young Leaders globally and the next
generation of philanthropists which is so vital to ensuring the longevity of
the work of the Fund.
A huge Thank you you to all our partners, sponsors and friends we could not continue to do the work that we do without your support. We are really excited about 2024 and are creating opportunities for us to continue to come together, to raise funds and to support those that need us most across the island of Ireland and here in Australia.
On
behalf of our Chair Yvonne Le Bas, our Board of Directors, Young Leaders and
myself I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy
New Year. I am looking forward to a quiet and peaceful Christmas, to
farewell 2023 and look to 2024 with a renewed appreciation for family,
friendships, health and excited to continue our good work in the new year. Teresa Keating Executive Director
